Today we had a pleasant surprise as some of the peaks of the roof started to go up. This is the front of the house and will be the wall of the guest room, assuming that any of our friends will still come to visit us now that we live in the far north.

Same spot. That long low wall will have a dormer kinda thing. Otherwise it would make for a rather uncomfortable bathroom.

The view upstairs from the kitchen window. This is my wide, wonderful, windowless workroom wall. It's this way because I want a place where I can take photos of costumes, and I opted for a blank wall in the studio. This is just one of the many reasons that it's great to design your own house.

Just as an aside, I believe this poor fellow moved here from Arizona. He came out to New England just in time to work outside, during the worst winter in recent history. I'll bet he's wishing he'd never left.
