We get quite a bit of wildlife in our backyard. There are herons and beavers living in the marsh, and deer and birds of all kinds in the woods nearby. And the gopher, of course...

For the most part we really enjoy our outdoor visitors--as long as they're not eating anything we'd like to keep.

Craig took these pictures yesterday when a small group of deer wandered across the yard and into the woods. The dogs usually spot them when they're in the more cultivated parts of the yard. Their vigilance has kept the new plants safe so far.
