Greatroom

The window seat cushion is today's project. Craig has the camera for the weekend, so I decided to photograph it even though it wasn't quite done. I've already added the curtain in the front to cover the video collection. It will get a tan cushion that matches the other bench. I've added some pillows, but not enough to prevent Zack from stretching out. I also added a few more brocade pillows to the big couches. I found that the small couch was almost too effective as a focal point--when you looked around the room, your eyes were grabbed and dragged back to it whether you liked it or not. A few cushions on the big couches bring the color back into the rest of the room, freeing the viewer's eyes to look at what they choose.

I like to eat my breakfast at the windowseat. Zack and Lacy always join me there. (I don't kid myself that it's because they love me. I just have food.) It's also a wonderful place to read on a rainy day.

We have a fair number of birds that visit us now. Chickadees, like this little fellow, titmice, a few varieties of nuthatch, and a pair of mourning doves. I'm hoping to get more this summer, although I should take the feeder down soon for the first part of spring. We've been warned that we might get bears on the porch if we leave it until they start waking up and looking for easy food.

It's a couple days since I announced this page finished, but I'm adding more stuff anyway. There were a few more things added after I thought I was done. I mixed up the pillows a bit, so they didn't look quite so much like mirror images.
We've added a few plants, and they give the room an amazing amount of life that it didn't have before. Here you can see Zack in his window, along with all the pillows that I removed from the other couch. He was grumbly at first, but I think he's used to them now.
The room is very warm and pleasant at sunset. It's a good energy space.
